The Tour

BATJI TOURS CAN PERFORM WELCOME TO COUNTRY CEREMONIES TAILORED TO YOUR REQUIREMENTS

Batji Tours operates 7 days year round, but bookings are essential. Batji walking tours take around 2 hours and are by request rather than scheduled departures. Please contact us for bookings.

Please wear a hat and sunscreen and bring a bottle of water.

  • Meet Robert at the corner of Daly Street and The Esplanade, by the fountain and information board.
  • Robert will guide you along Darwin's beautiful Esplanade all the while talking about the plants, bush tucker and the culture of the original inhabitants of the area.
  • Below the Esplanade is Lameroo Beach which is reached through a beautiful rainforest. This is where visitors receive a traditional Larrakia 'Welcome to Country' (see photos below).
  • As you pass various historic sites of Darwin, Robert provides a cultural perspective often involving his relatives and ancestors.

Learn about some of the important sites and history relating to World War Two bombing of Darwin which is retold through Australia the Movie.

The tour winds up at Browns Mart, one of Darwin’s most important historical buildings where you can meet Aboriginal artists and learn more about various painting styles.
